David Symington Fine Arts Memorial Scholarship
This award was established in 2025 by Stage North in memory of David Symington. David contributed a significant amount of time and energy as an active board member with Stage North and Slave Lake Musical Theater Association, and he taught drama at Roland Michener Secondary School. The purpose of the award is to provide students graduating from Roland Michener Secondary School and/or another high school in Slave Lake the opportunity to pursue studies in visual arts and arts-related careers.
David's deep love of education, teaching, music and the performing arts was evident in all his community involvements. His work will be memorialized through this scholarship.

Number: One scholarship to be awarded per year
Eligibility: Open to students who are
Graduates of any Slave Lake high school with fine arts credits.
Enrolled in a performing or visual arts program at an accredited post-secondary institution.
Applicant must submit:
A completed application form, AND
An artistic statement or vision that represents the student’s career or academic goals in any appropriate medium, AND
A letter of recommendation from the student’s performing arts/visual arts teacher or instructor.
The award may be claimed within one year upon submission of:
Proof of high school graduation
Demonstration of fine arts credits at the high school level
Proof of enrollment in an accredited post–secondary institution, either majoring in fine or performing arts, or enrolled in a dedicated fine or performing arts program.
